Default Synthetic blend oil anyone using it?

I just found a little sticker in the top portion of my windshield recommending the mileage and time for my future (38K ) oil change. This is the first complimentary oil change from the dealer.
Below the dealer mention the use of Synthetic blend oil.
I was planning changing to FULL Synthetic when the time of oil change come. Now my question is :

1- After that oil change can i go FULL Synthetic?

2- Will be any problems the car will have 43K ( after the dealer oil change)

3- Any benefits besides of cost (assuming is cheaper than Synthetic) using the Synthetic Blend compared to the FULL Synthetic and the Standard Motor Oil?

Car 2003 GS300 33800 miles on the clock.
Car is driven in Florida (Hot 90F and more) Distances between 15 and 50 miles daily , mostly in city traffic.
Thanks

I run Castrol Syntec in my 300 and i like it a lot. It felt like the car was reving smoother then it was with regular oil when i first changed it, the car runs nice and quiet, and i dont have to change the oil for another 1500 miles. The cost doesnt bother me, its a bit more expensive, but i use it as a tax write off, so who cares! I would recommend going with that over the suthetic blend.

Insure the oil filter is of good quality... no matter which oil is selected.

Inexpensive filters tend to bypass or clog early in the oil life cycle.

Synthetic blend is worthless. You don't really get any of the benes from synthetic because you are still dealing with an inferior dino oil mixed into the...mix. I'm not a dino oil basher, let's face it, there are MANY MANY cars on the road with high mileage engines that used only dino oils, but the performance characteristics of synthetics are well documented and superior to the dino oils.

bobistheoilguy.com<--a decent site with lots of info on oils, additives, etc. It can take some time, but the info there is pretty good.

Why go half and half? Go 100% synthetic. A mix containing dino will still make the oil turn brown and dirty sooner than a full synthetic.

Default Royal Purple

I've been using Royal Purple since 1998 on my 1998 GS 300. Price in 1998 was $3.99/qt and now it's close to $6.00/qt but it's all worth the extra bucks. I usually do my own oil change so I can spend more time on my own car to maintain other things to it and plus save on that labor cost! I've tried Mobile 1 full synthetic and Castro Synthetic but neither one are comparable to Royal Purple. It idles much smoother and lasts a LOT longer as well. A tech once told me that Royal Purple can last as long as 8000 miles before an oil change but the way I drive I usually do it around 45-5000 miles. Try Royal Purple once and you'll love it from there on to save extra money in between for an oil change. And btw, I use the factory oil filter which works perfectly fine. Used Mobile 1 filter before and not much difference. Just a $5 extra compared to factory.

Maybe you know this already but just to make sure, buy the stock oil filter at a Toyota dealership and it's way cheaper then buying at Lexus. Just use the same part number for the filter.

Oil filters will filter oil, whether it is synthetic oil or dino oil. You can debate which filters are better, but they all filter any engine oil.

Here is the part number for you buddy: 90915-YZZD1

Here is the website that you can use for other parts as well.

http://www.lexus-parts.com/faqs.html

They are compatible on pricing but I don't think you want to pay for shipping charges when maybe your tax locally will be cheaper.

As for going all synthetic, I'm currently using Royal Purple brand for my differential fluid as well. But I'm sticking to the stock tranny fluids.
