Default LSD owners... any regrets?

Any regrets for members that have a LSD? I've read nothing but positives here. Of course I'll be doing the PI TC at the same time if I decide to move forward with the 3.76 LSD.

I have the Rod Millen 3.76 LSD and love it. I don't think I will ever put the stock diff back in. Once you put it on, you will wonder why they did not put it on stock. I wish I could put the TC in but I can't have a check engine light during our yearly inspections. Get the LSD, you will not be disappointed .

You might want to do a search on this. It has been reported that most 2001 and later GS430's that put the TC in, end up with a check engine light that cannot be turned off. I did not notice which model you have but you might want to do a search if you have a 2001+. I don't want to go through the pain and money to install it and then maybe have to un-install it. But if I could be assured it would work for me, I would have done that mod before the 3.76 LSD.

Just checked your profile and you are driving a GS400. You should have no problem with the TC. I would get that first if I were you .

Yeah, probably should have specified, I have a GS 400. Whew, glad it doesn't affect the 400! Would hate to stare at a check engine light all the time in a Lex!

not all gs400 are immuned. for example jacobT has problem with tc in his gs400 as well. but most gs400 owners they don't get cel with their TC.

my TC and LSD are best investment on performanc period. no regret at all, except the tons of power and that it might eats more quite a bit more gas if you drive aggressively (the gas price lately doesn't help). otherwise, awesome.

and by comparison when i get into my sc430, it feels so much slower

I have a GS400 and I get the check engine light every so often. I just keep my error code reader with me in the car and just reset each time. Best bang for the buck. But it sures kills the gas mileage!!

I've had TWO TCs already. They worked fine when they are new, but after 20k miles, I got CEL turned on. I have worked with numerous tranny shops and no one could fix it. So finally I went back to stock TC and just keep the LSD

Only 20k and both TC's failed or did only the CEL turn on? Any other symptoms?

I have a 98 GS400 and no problems with the CEL.

I had terrible problems with my LSD and was hitting the limiter everytime I got on it. I sold it to someone who also has a GS400 and he didn't have any problems hitting the limiter I even had my VB upgraded and switched to Amsoil and it didn't help

Only regret I had about the 3.76 was why I didn't do it sooner. Before installing the 3.76, my shift points under wot were just a shade above or at 6000rpm. With the 3.76, I noticed my shift points were a hair before redline. I've had the unit in for 2 years and have never hit the rev limiter.
The only other thing to consider with installing the 3.76 is that you should upgrade your rear tires to a 275 or larger. Its way too easy to spin 235's or 245's in back.

Bill, I thought the state inspection was only emissions related. Alternate systems will not cause you to fail the state inspection. My old beater car's ABS no longer works and I have the light on in the dash. I still pass state inspection. I think it's time to get the TC since you have some funds freed up from the recently failed project

Boy, I would love to get a TC but I really don't want to take a chance with the CEL. I am pretty sure you cannot have a CEL when you have your car inspected. Actually, mine was due up last month so when I take it in I will ask the guy about it. If it is OK to have the CEL, I still would not want to have that light on all the time. I guess I will just get use to power braking .
As for my failed project, I am now searching the classified section for a used set of "smaller" big brakes.
