Adrian (Bluelex) has a 1st gen 2JZGTE in his ride... Its not a direct drop-in. You have to do some fabrication when it comes to the motor mounts and additional stuff needs to be done for it to work.

2nd gen 2JZGTE (VVTi) is a direct drop in.. this engine is going to cost you more money though.

There are tons of threads in regards to this. Just search.

here's one of them to get you started...

I have the 1st gen aristo motor and trans swap, I lost traction control and cruise control. Only fabrication needed is custom made motor mounts and the yoke off a 1st gen aristo for the driveshaft to line up. If your car is a 98 you don't have the trip tronic shift anyway so that doesn't come into play. If its a 98 I doubt you have any long warranty plans to worry about unless you bought extra when you got the car. If done correcty you have nothing to worry about with this motor.Good luck.

Is there a way to keep cruise somehow? Or not possible at all?

The cruise control should work. Burton w/ the 2jz-gte vvti got it to work. But max speed is only 65mph in cruise control.

Are you serious? whats the point in going through all the hard work to get it connected than? Who uses cruise control at 65mph?

I did nothing special to get it to work it just did. I am hoping with the HKS speed cut defender it will go over 65 but I have to buck up and buy it.
