I took my K@ N drop in filter out to clean it, i droped the regular one in cause my wife needed to take the car out, she comes back with a check engine light. I think its because of the filter, what should i do to fix that?
I didnt try anything yet, my first thing is to unplug the battery and reset the ECU, is there anything else i should do to reset the ecu?
Disconnecting the battery for a period of time will reset the ECU. Don't overlook the obvious either, there may be a valid reason for the check engine light to be on. You can always go to one of the larger chain part stores and have the code read.
I went to the dealer and they replaced 2 oxygen sensors, a day later check engine light came back, I called them again, took the car in, one of the new sensors was bad, they replaced it and so far check engine light hasn’t come back yet.
I have the same issues. I had it checked out and its the damn O2 sensor. Once I found out how much it cost to replace it, I figure why bother. It comes on about a day after I drive hard. After I calm down and drive Ms. Daisy style, it goes away the next day.
This happened about 4 days after changing to a K&N drop in.
yep, my warranty covered the work, otherwise i would spent $350 for 2 sensors. You can changed them yourself i think, i did that on my other cars. It was way cheaper.
I dont think that K@N has to do anything with it, because i had my K@N filter for a year and the ckeck engine light never came on.
