Question Nitrous (NOS) on GS400, kit suggestions?

Ok after reading horror story FI threads like this:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=205967

with each hp costing upwards of $75 (100hp =$7,500) I've decided not to go the FI route

NOS seems cheaper.

I dont race around constantly anymore. Use to have a LT1 car and loved speeding around, than gas prices went nuts and bought a Avalon and now I stare at the mpg trip computer more than I do the speedometer. (And I do get good mpg, 400+ miles out of ~15 gallons local driving, exactly like Toyota says it should)

Sometimes I still get that urge to speed around but practically everything slaughters the 3.0 Avalon (I had a chrysler sebring beat me )

So I want to get a GS400 with Navigation/trip computer (so i can stare at it again ) and NOS for those rare moments I want to slaughter some GT Stang, Z28s or older vettes

I'll be safe with 100hp wet shot, and I got an excellent mechanic who's a NOS and FI wizard.

Is there a company that sells a NOS kit for the GS400 or shold i have him fashion one?

What have you guys done or bought that has worked?

What didn't work?

I have seen a GS400 with 100 shot... I spoke to the owner breifly and the only thing he really complained about was the auto tranny slipping while on the bottle. I believe he used an NOS wet kit that was modded to work on the v8. I have also seen an SC400 with 150 shot direct port setup. I'd say go for it.

When i go nos (not IF, i will go with nitrous) I'll be using a controller :
At the initial rpm trigger point, the Jacobs Mastermind pulses the nitrous and fuel solenoids, gradually increasing nitrous and fuel flow until it reaches the 100 percent flow rpm point set on the dial.
All that for only $260

That should prevent any tranny slipping and might allow for a higher shot since it's a more gradual increase in power.

i plan to do nitrous too. i've heard many people with sc400 running 100+ shot too so it should be safe to run 100+ shot in a gs400.

and for the "controller " you are talking about, i enjoy feeling the kick of the nitrous when you first spray it.

but i sure hope the tranny doesn't slip when spraying.

only time till tell.

I ran a 125 shot of DPI N2O on my VQ powered Max for years with no problems. I don't see how a properly installed and tuned 100 shot will hurt the 1uz. It should have no problems holding it. The rest of the powertrain is a different story, but the motor (all else assumed in good working order) shouldn't have too much of a problem IMO.

Just curious is anyone else is running this sorta set-up? I'm a boost junkie but have since sold my Turbo DC2 and SR20 S13 and all i have now is the GS4. I would love to go FI with it but just a lil to much for me now hahaha...Was thinking about a 100-150 shot and get me into the low 13's....Anyone?

I ran a guy at the track back in 99. He had a 98 gs400 that he claimed had heads and cams all the blot ons and stuff. He had 20's on the car, he ran a 13.7 at 103 or 104. I had my camaro with some work and I smacked him with a 12.20 at 113mph. He had a detail shop and allways bragged that he could beat me. Anyways come to find out what he had was cold air intake, cat back from L tuned and a 125 shot dry. This track is close to sea level and it was in a winter month. I know he blew the motor when he went with the 150 shot. I wanted to spray my gs3 but turbos the way for that car. Any thing over a 75 shot I think you might want to run a wet kit to be safe. Also his car did spin alot out the hole. I think from what i seen from his car if you have a TC and a LSD with bolt ons and the 100 to 125 low 13s should be easy

The biggest problem with our cars is the damn tranny. It's luxury tuned so it slips with any surge of power. 100-150 shot should be no problem for a properly maintained and good condition motor. For the tranny, get a valve body upgrade to firm up the shifts. That way it will prevent the tranny from slipping through the gears.

Agreed! Now, let's say down the road one would like to "not upgrade the old tranny" but "replace" with a HP transmission for our cars (GS4XX). How much and where could I get one???
