Remove 2nd Cat
Has anyone removed their 2nd cat (where it joins into one pipe). I am thinking of putting in an electric exhaust cutout where the cat is. I'm doing this so I can retain my stock mufflers, while still being able to open the exhaust when I'd like to (sounds mean as hell too
). Has anyone not been able to pass emissions with the 2nd cat out? We have 3, I just don't know how vital the 2nd cat is.

3 cats? All I know of is the middle cat and the cat off the headers. As far as removing it, depending on where you are you should be able to pass emissions. If not, go get emissions done right now, take the cat off, keep it, and throw it back on next year.

I removed my 3rd car - which I am guessing is the same thing you are calling the 2nd cat. Although we don't have emissions here, my exhaust guy said the 3rd is not necessary to pass emissions.

One of my precats got destroyed on my RX via crap gas down here. After taking them off, that left me with just my 3-way Magnaflow High Flow Cat (also installed due to road debris damage on the OEM cat). Though foreign-plated cars are not required to test, we had my RX hooked up an it passed with flying colors.

When the time comes for smog, i'll just have it installed.
This way my cats will stay in good condition in storage so the supercharger wont destroy it.
