Default Got an intake -- Have some questions

I went to a local lexus dealer and purchased an "aftermarket" if you can call it that, intake for my 350 but i've got a few questions.

When I went to install it, the first thing I noticed is that the stock intake, while more restrictive pulls in cool ambient air. The new intake I got doesn't, its got an open cone filter that rests right where the stock airbox is pulling in hot air from the engine bay.

My question, is the aftermarket intake really better? I had doubts on weather or not it actually produces more power then the stock setup for the reasons I mentioned above. Has anyone done a before/after dyno? The intake is the same as the LMS intake only under a different label.

Hey Ramon, I had experienced the same thing. What I did was reset the battery (5-10mins) because all of a sudden the ECU had to process an excess amount of air thus more high-end lag with no aftermarket Exhaust to breathe out. Thereafter, drive your car for about 4-6 days, you will start to notice more HP and Torque.

It was just under $260 out the door.

I actually never even got around to installing it. I just saw its setup and was a little dissappointed that it was a standard run of the mill open cone intake and not a cold air intake. The stock intake is actually a cold air intake, albiet a restrictive one which is why I wanted to see some dyno charts to see the difference. At this point i'm thinking of possibly returning it and waiting for a better design to become available.
