Default Help with choosing exhaust and air intake

I have a 99 GS4. I want to add an air intake and a new exhaust. It would be my first mods. I want an exhaust that is not loud. I want that low deep growl when I hit the gas, but no constant loudness. I want the car to maintain its luxury, but show off its big heart when the gas is hit. Any suggestions on what exhaust would give the sound I am looking for? Also, I see most members seem to go for the SRT intake. Some think it is too loud. Is there an air intake available that is low in tone. I want to give the LEX the more air to breathe, but keep him tamed. Dont get me me wrong, I have watched the clips on the forum and the cars sound great. I just want mine a little more conservative. I might wear a shirt and tie, but I still drink my beer out the bottle. You see where I am getting at?

Thumbs up

Any "filter on a stick" type of intake will be substantially louder than stock. What is too loud for one person sounds great to another so it's really best to hear in person if at all possible. I have the K&N FIPK which is not as loud as the SRT but still pretty loud at WOT. I think it sounds good though and is acceptable at normal driving conditions.
Same with the exhaust. The Carson Tuned is fairly quiet too but has a nice sound at the same time. The combination of the two will be quite a bit louder than stock, but that's OK as long as you accept that ahead of time and it isn't a constant droning when you don't want to hear it.

I think when I was in search for exhaust, several threads mentioned that Borla is one of the quietest ones out of all aftermarket exhausts.

Thanks for your suggestions. I will look into Borla exhaust systems. I want to also make sure that I get an intake system that will work well with the ECU. So that will play an importnat role as well.
