You guys have sure helped the rest of us who haven't got around to the install yet! THANKS!!
BA GS400,
Did you use reuse the stock header to cat gasket or do you think a new one should be bought? Does the gasket fit inside the recessed part of the header or does the ridge from the cat fit inside the recessed part of the header?

The Ridge that you pointed out in that diagram is what now fits just inside the flange.
I used my old convertor gaskets because I had read from someone else that this was going to be possible. Since it is a copper gasket, it *looked* ok and I went ahead and used them. The gasket at each end looked identical, although I didn't measure them.
If they are only a few bucks each, I would have bought 4 of them for this project. I just wasn't thinking that far ahead.
I did buy new manifold to head gaskets though.
On the convertor and also on the original manifold, there is a slight indented ring on the flange that the gasket seals against. The header doesn't have this but I don't think it's a big deal since the convertor does have it, and we've got that ridge to go up in the header collector pipe.

I found your othr header post and it makes more sense to me now. thanks.
Checking with Carson Toyota the header/manifold gasket is $21 and the upper and lower cat. gaskets are $10 each. Had a chance to drive it yet?? How does it drive?
