Some of you might be thinking "wow, he went the hard route" and you are probably right.
I could have done any of the things JB mentioned earlier but this is the route I wanted to take. I think it's more like the factory design, I get to use the factory copper gasket instead of some aftermarket gasket, and I think I'm *more* assured of a leak-free fitment. For me, it was worth the time.
The absolutely quickest fix would have been to do what I think TRBOPOOH (or someone) did and grind down the little tube coming out of the catalytic convertor.

Glad you got everything worked out. You shouldn't have any problems if there aren't any exhaust leaks.
Mike, this isn't the same problem you had with yours...or is it? I was thinking you had some kind of metal ring or gasket you had to grind down?
