You might consider top to bottom type of IC. Lot more effecient. Somthing like this Bar and Plate IC

I am sorry, but i don't see how this new piping will be any different than your existing setup. unless the piping in green is behind the radiator. The intercooler will still have the same effectiveness as your original setup. Actually it may be worse since you will probably get less cool air going through to you radiator even if you get a larger intercooler.

You will likely need to have the air FROM the SC go into the pipe in green and enter the manifold from the pipe in blue. It would defeat the purpose of you cooling the air if you send air the way you have it drawn because the air will start to get heated from the heat from the radiator. My humble opinion
