I just did this mod this weekend as I live in Houston, same place josh does and it def doesnt get cold down here haha. Well damn i was surprised how hot that coolant hose gets. This 10 dollar mod has to get you at least like 5 horsepower just from the lower intake temperature.

There is wax in the inlet coolant hose. Inlet valve will close when it reach a certain temp. You wouldn't gain any hp for doing this. It might look clean for not having the coolant hose.

So basiclly this is pointless? There is already a valve that stops coolent from passing threw the TB when it gets to a temp? So why do this MOD?

Not sure but, I read an explanation that I thought made more sense.

When your sitting at a stop light and it is chilly the vortex that is created by a partially closed throttle valve can cause very low temperatures and if humid outside can cause freezing of the butterfly flap / throttle body.

I would recommend not doing this mod. Toyota is not stupid.

it's not going to freeze at a stop light.

bwahahahah

never mind the engine sitting right underneath the throttle body,,,, heat soak, physics.

Now if you lived someplace where the weather gets to the - degree's, I would consider not doing this mod, if just for startup.

It would not mater because the fluids are cold during start up.
