guys you know on the Gs400 where you can shift your gears the up and down buttons ,,, anyways WHY does the down button only takes your car to 2nd gear ???? I know in the BMW's you can use first gear in them ,,, is thier anyways I can let the car start from 1st gear using the button shifters ?? it would make my life a lot easier than using the auto shift starting from L

That's just the way they did it. No first gear control from e-shift. To hold first gear you gotta gate shift. E-shift's going to start in first from a standstill. You just can't hold it in gear with it.

Why?
I'm sure someone in the Lexus organization can tell you what logic they used, but so far no one has stepped forward with an answer...lots of speculation, but no hard info.

Hmmm Lexus might say something about engine safty and all ,, but the nice thing about it is you can run it up at the red line )))) BMW Jags Porches shift automaticaly when they hit the red line so I can say we do have a bit more control from 2nd gear and up its fun

BBD, your right that you can run to red line, but, your car will shift if you hold the throttle while using E-shift mode. Tiny
