Default SRT intake filter

Has anyone cleaned their srt intake with the filter cleaner that k & n makes? Is it ok to clean the srt intake or does it just need to be replaced? Any insights would be helpful.

It's OK to clean it with the filtercharger kit you mention. Just make sure not to use too much oil as that can screw up your 02 sensors

Thanks for the help dave. Will there be any affect if I dont use enough oil? What is a good technique to oil the filter? I have about 15 to 16k miles on my filter. It doesnt look dirty but I think it is time to clean it. Is there a limit to the amount of times you can clean a filter?

Better listen to Dave...Ioveroiled mine once and was cleaning the MAF sensor every 2 days. What a pain in the butt. But the filter shouldt be a lifetime item unless it's ripped. Just use the recharger kit and give it a light coat of oil. I usually take my intake off and clean the inside of the pipe and the throttle body while I'm at it.

Thanks for the help. I will be very careful with the oil. What are the problems if you under oil the filter? Does it dry out and fail?

Actaully, the oil is what is supoose to trap the small particles and keep them, from going into the engine. What you want to do is apply a light coat evenly to the filter where you can visibly see that the filter has a light reddish color.
