Default SRT Intake Horsepower Claims

Hi everyone. I just picked up a 99 GS4 and have been reading about the various intakes. I want to know if anyone has verified the hp increase claim of +30hp and +40 tq on the SRT Intake with ECU? Dyno numbers would be preferable.

Thanks!

Congrats on your new GS bmc and welcome to CLubLexus

If you'll try the search feature of our forum you'll find LOTS of discussion on that topic.

General consensus is that the numbers quoted are optimistic, but most do see some decent increases. A couple have come close to hitting those numbers.

For example, I searched for 'srt intake claim' or 'srt intake dyno' and found these threads

keep in mind the dynos are RWHP and I think their claims are 'crank'.

i really highly doubt you would get that much..performance wise...thats a HUGE increase with just an intake..

Not to beat a dead horse, but it is more than just an intake... The piggyback ECU is where most of the gains are coming from... I believe there was even an old thread stating that HP and TQ actually fell with just the SRT intake and no ECU.

Question is do you want to treat your Lexus like a Mustang or Camaro by adding a chip? I have had some bad experiences with aftermarket chips hurting my cars in the long run and I don't entirely trust the filters on these intakes either...

or at least not in a $50K car that hopes to see 200,000 miles.
