but thats NOT true Jeff, the link i supplied even shows the headers Jbrady helped create (the original S&S headers) were made in 2003, two years before he made this first post

BTW did you do that porting? that looks great and im sure you know the right amounts to remove for the I6 but could you do a V8 if someone sent one to you?

its one of those things, some people will doubt it because of that but it also maybe as simple as he doesnt have this info. i mean if he didnt bench flow the heads (which most individuals dont do) or dyno before/after he wont have power gains (bench flow wont show power gains just air movement essentially) and he may not have costs as this was many years ago

I wonder what it cost? I have a 430 engine lying around. There is an engine repair shop a mile away but I think they only work on super large engines (with blocks the size of my car).

Yes you can use the stock computer set up and pass emissions testing after porting.
Factory set up is designed to go 50% to increase or lean fuel.
Changing cams may change this also.
I used stock cams, so can not tell you if you will pass with changing cams.
Stock cams are a dual pattern and are design as such to make low emissions at low rpms.
This is why the cars came out being ultra low emissions.
Using stock cams I still run in the 12s with a brand new Supra 3:76 gear.
Good luck with your build.

hahahaha not with JUST some engine work

there are people with intake, exhaust, headers, and nitrous who never made it into the 12's. (here's a old thread from back in the day)

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/dra...ace-track.html

and the best one WITH proven times AND the ONLY people in the 12 club were FI

What are some of the upgrades you will need to do to accompany ported heads? You are adding more air and making more power, so wouldn't it make sense that you should change out the stock exhaust to get rid of the combustion by products out at a faster rate?

if you increase air intake you need to increase air expulsion also...

yes, yes it would....but not when you have a magic car

Theres no way youre running 12s with gears and some na tuning/ headwork. This is not a camaro. People routinely spend thousand on tousands to drop seconds on the 1/4 withtheir gs. I got blessed to have a gs running 14.5 stock, most are running 15s

You are right, I spend over $15K in parts and work along with 4 years on the complete design of engine, transmission, rear end, handling, etc. It is all about balance of a set up, balance is the key to any winning car and the physics behind it. First you need to understand exactly what a engine is and how it functions, why it functions the way it does, combined with transmissions and rear axles. My business career has been in product development for many major corporations such as Boeing, 3M, US Military, etc. I have been building and racing cars since the early 70s. For a number of years held a E-Stock record in the mid 70s with a 73 Trans Am. Many a AMG, Hemi, TA and the such thought that a old Lexus sedan could not stay with them, but it did and beat them. Until you know exactly what you are doing, never say it can not be done. The first product I licensed to 3M, they ask me, why do you think you can do better than our 8000 engineers, 30 years later they still sell the product I developed. By saying it can not be done you have now limited your abilities and yourself from accomplishing it. Dare to dream of what is possible and you may just accomplish it. Say it can not be done and you for certain will not accomplish it. There is no magic here, just people that applied themselves at the race tracks, some winners, some losers, this is why you have such fine performance cars now days, because the old guys had a passion for what they were doing.
