Thumbs up My bro's 01 GS430 time at the 1/4-mile drag race track........

Guys,

I'm at the Ca Speedway 1/4 mile race track again today, my bro brought his 2001 Lexus GS430 with the following mods (exhaust, intake, chip, torque converter & lowered 3.76 gearing w/ LSD), I was Surprised with his time -------------> 14.617 seconds @ 95.13 MPH

This is way faster than everyone expected! Remember California Speedway is also known as a tough track, it not just 1121.27 ft above the sea-level (this will automatically add 0.3 ~ 0.5 second to all 1/4 mile runs).

For your information:
A BMW M5 best at 13.90 seconds at the same track (Road & Track has tested 13.40 seconds at thier track) .
A MERCEDES-BENZ AMG E55 best at 14.0 seconds at the same track.
A DODGE VIPER best at 12.97 seconds at the same track.
A CADILLAC STS best at 15.90 seconds at the same track.
A CHEVROLET CORVETTE C5 best at 13.89 seconds at the same track.
A FORD MUSTANG COBRA best at 13.82 seconds at the same track.
A FORD MUSTANG COBRA best at 13.99 seconds at the same track.

Any of you with GS400 or 430 ran 1/4 mile track before? We would like to know which track and what's you time.

By the way, there are 2 cute Lexus IS300s at the track and they Surprised me as well, they all did about 16 seconds at 1/4 mile and were beaten by stock Integras & Civics (no kidding!), I wonder why?

I would really appreciate your thoughts!

Regards,
JIMMY

Nice to see that the GS really can hit the speeds published. Ive never felt like 0-60 in 5.8 seconds, but i sure have felt the speed after that.

Is this the same track that your 540i ran at?

To what chip are you referring? The piggyback SRT intake Race ECU? Currently there are no "chips" available for the GS that conventional wisdom is aware of. There are a couple companies claiming so, but we haven't seen anything so far. Very curious....

Nice times too.

Yes, the chip he was referring to is the ECU from the SRT intake.

Toog4me:

Thanks, yes that's where I ran my car recently. Here is my time slip:

http://www.**************/californiaspeedway.htm

I Didn't do so good though..

As for the 5.8 second (from 0~60mph) you were refering to on my bro's GS, I would say he should be doing 5.8~6.0 or better by judging his 1/4 mile time.

JIMMY

Integras and civics running sub 16s stock? I live in phoenix, and spend alot of time at the racetrack. Still yet to see ANY integra (even type r's) or civic run sub 16s, EVER. Most of the Si's run in the 16.3 range, and integras about the same.

...an IS auto should run 16s....

hey jimmy. No mention about me? I also ran with my GS400 today at cali. speedway.
13.45 @105.8mph

I will improve next time when I have the TRD LSD and the NOS bottle @ 900-950 PSi rather than the 825psi it ran at today. I will guess 13.1-13.2 with it tuned on Sept 14th./15th.

I could only get one run in because once they saw a 13 posted I had to get a helmet.

Look out MSD ingintion & tranny cooler next time to.

PS. Jimmy's ride is sweeeet.

GS3InPhx:

I have a hard time believing it too, Integras doing high 15s and they do drop the mod IS300 like a 3rd period french!

Just check w/ Road & Track:

A 96 Integra & a 01 I300 both marked at 15.5 seconds @ 1/4mile.

A 99 Civic Si marked 15.7

But I'm surprised I don't see that in reality. Thoughts?

Roenick7:

This post was put up yesterday (8/17/02), you weren't there yesterday.

You've got a fast car, I've never seen a Nitrus set-up like that! I just told my bro to check out your car in this froum!

Thumbs up buddy!

JIMMY
