umm in snow you probably don't want the car to rev up too fast, which is what the lsd does. i guess it's not too good of an idea that way. but it helps to find traction, that's the better aspect

The revs only go up high if you change the gearing, i.e., use the Supra 3.76 LSD. But the TRD LSD with the same as stock gearing would not change the revs.

LSD allows traction to both tires which is twice as much grip than a non-LSD unit.

In the end both tires can still spin in snow, but it will be easier to control with an LSD than just one tire spinning.

You also won't get stuck in the snow if one tire loses traction since the other side will grab as well.

Ever see a car stuck in the snow with one tire spinning and the other not? That's a non-LSD car.

Yes I would get it even living in New England, but do you have the TC upgrade, I would do that before the LSD as I think you get a better bang for your buck out of that.

As for the LSD you also have to decide if you want to stay with the stock gear ratio or if you want to move up to the 3.76.

Several of the clublexus sponsors/vendors sell them. There are several types Supra lsd, TRD lsd, RMM lsd etc. As I understand it RMM resells the Supra LSD

My opinion... if you're buying the LSD simply for use as an improvement in snow driving, you'll be MUCH better off getting a set of beater wheels and putting some quality winter / snow tires on them.... and it will be cheaper.

I personally would not have added a TRD LSD unless I was getting FI (which I did). I also wouldn't recommend the higher gear ratio of the Supra / RMM Torsen LSD to somebody who does a lot of driving in snow - that'll just get you spinning faster BUT its a great mod for performance for your two months ( ) of summer up in MA.

If you're set on getting the TRD LSD, a good place is Carson Toyota www.l-tunedparts.com

Putting it in the GS300 would actually SLOW your car down off the line because the GS300 has 3.91 or so gearing from the factory. Big waste of money IMO, GS3 shouldn't have too much of a traction problem without FI.

17gs400 - if your main goal is snow traction, invest in snow tires. If your goal is making the car have better traction mainly for aggressive driving, then get the LSD. Buying the LSD just to improve traction in snow is not a bad idea, but I'd get snow tires first.
