Default is 130amps enough from the alt?

So I'm lead to the conclusion that our stock alternator is probably putting out 80amps. I know this guy who does not rewind the alternators but he actually replaces the strator and rotor inside the same casing... and should put out 130amps in our stock casing....

60 extra amps... thats good for almost an extra 1000 watts. Now my question is he wants $150 for the labor and parts. Should I even do this or should I just save up and shell out for one of those 200 amp ones. The thing that scares me about the bigger alts is well.... they can get upwards of 3times as large as our stock ones. Then I dont even know if they mount correctly. I'm planning on sound system maybe this year and hopefully F/I by the end of next year but still am not certain if I will even keep this car.

What do you big system guys and F/I guys do?

Default system

well i have about 1500-1600 watts running with a/c convertor and ps2 and several higher volume amps. i have a simple 1 fared cap. it does fine, but in my honest opinion i wish i would have spend the major bucks on the F/I or a turbo kit. for 9-10k someone can definately build something.

I went thru this dilema many a times.... but F/I is a bottomless money pit and unfortunately although 6-7 grand might be good for a kit .... the future maintenance is what I am afraid of. shoot if I lived next to Toyomoto or SRT I'd drop a kit on in quick.... but alast I live in SoCal and there isn't much options for us.

Sounds like I am going to crank my Alt to 130 amps..... how much did you pay for yours 00lexusdub ? My guy quoted $150 to replace the strator and what nots.... to kick in 60 extra amps.

The 200 amps alternator that we are offering. Everything is new. It's not a rebuild unit. This is for someone that run dual fuel pump, F/I and big soud system. It's bolted to the stock location. No modification needed.

We are no longer making the 200 amps. Only the 190 amps, We did a lot of R&D and it will be more efficient to run the 190 amps. The 190 amps alternator will run $550 with shipping. Any other details please forward your email to jpimportz@yahoo.com Thank you.

Default Ohio Generator

I did a hi output alternator (stock case) from Ohio Generator. 170 amp hot rating. Works like a charm and I have 3200 watts (rms) of Zapco power
