Default EXHAUST EXPERT, please help!

i am looking for cat-back exhaust system for my 00 GS300. i been searching all over CL forum to find the right type of exhaust that meet my needs but none come in mind yet. My goals is to looking for nice appearance and QUITE exhaust and don't want to loose any low end power. Which of the following do you think will have QUITE sound. Couple decibles louder than stock is fine but not too loud. Please range them from 1-10 ( 1stock sound.......10 loudest). Thanks for your time

1. Apexi WS
2. HKS
3. Borla
4. lsport line
5. ?

i think you should try ltuned or carson tuned or borla, those are on the quiet side

greddy is super loud, hks is loud too. i have apexi, if you want absolute quietness, don't touch it

10 being loudest, i have sat in greddy before and it's an easy 9, coz' it's loud all the time. my apexi, i say it's 6, it's loud when you are between 2k to 3k. there is no resonator so it's loud. after 3k the car becomes very quiet again

Agreed, the Greddy, even tho mine isn't installed yet, i have heard....VERY Loud, HKS is quite loud too. Don't know about the Apexi, but for guranteed quietness, Leave it stock.

And as LSportGS4 said, you could just add tips. I did and it maintained it's quietness, and just added a little of that V8 growl when you punch it.

Well I have L-tuned too and don't agree at all. It's MUCH louder than stock when accelerating. At cruise speed though, you're right, not much difference.

Precisely.

Especially at 2000 rpm it sounds mean! Other than that, it sounds too subtle for my tastes.

even worse, the apexi does NOT have resonator to begin with. after cat, it's just a straight pipe all the way to the muffler

BUT, it's still quieter than greddy, significantly. it's safe to say that the apexi is very quiet for a no resonator cat back

My Carson Tuned Cat Back exhaust is quiet, almost as quiet as the stock exhaust but a deeper sound. You can't go wrong with the Carson Tuned if quiet is a requirement. The Carson Tuned also is flawlessly finished stainless steel throughout. I would also consider the Blitz Nur Spec exhaust, but I'm not sure if it's a Cat Back - it sure looks good though! Can't comment about the others as I have not heard them.
