Exclamation Weapon R Intake + Ecu Dyno

Hey gang. FYI. I contacted VIA e-mail the guys at Weapon-R about the intake/ECU combo for our cars. Theu do still offer these at...

$1200.00

I was told this was for the Intake, Cold air box (which is nice in it's own right), and ECU. The ECU can be programmed to our specs... I am getting a clarification on this as we speak VIA e-mail reply. I was motivated to contact Weapon-R after reading some good reviews from the members here.

Now, does this Dyno look a little wrong? Very low numbers for a GS400 don't you think? This is what they just sent me for the Weapon-R results with the GS400. I e-mailed back asking if this is right or if they sent my a GS300 Dyno.

Anyway, I am trying to decide which Intake to purchase or I may just continue to save up for FI.

There are about a dozen or so threads on the Weapon-R/ECU VS Weapon-R/SAFC VS SRT/ECU and on and on...

Can everyone running some combination of these that still have their cars comment on the positives and negatives of each and why they prefer one or the other. Most of the threads about this already date back to 02 or earlier and I am sure some of you either have tried various setups since then or know people that have. I just want 1 thread with some opinions between the 2 that are current without all the fighting and flames littering the other posts. Just your personal experience and opinion without attacking someone elses point of view.

Personally I like the looks of the Cold Air Box and thought that the Weapon-R ECU looks to make more HP and TORQUE from those that have dynoed it in the past.

Thanks

Nobody has a take on the dyno? I think it is for a GS300. Would any other factors explain such low numbers for the GS400?

weapon R is garbage...thats not just me hating...its experience from my honda days

I don't know that much about dyno graphs...but im assuming those numbers are quotes for power to the wheels where what is usually quoted is to the crank?

Anyway, dont buy WR intake. SRT or the KNN full setup (i have it, its ok...i got a good deal. id rather have srt)

Whoa.... Talk about a name from the past!

CinFulxGS4: Do a search for Weapon R and you will see several threads regarding dyno info and customer service. Let's just say that the majority here would avoid Weapon R. Me personally, stick with SRT or Injen.

Here is a link to a poll that was done awhile back.

I would assume those numbers in the Dyno are taken at the wheels... numbers still seem too low compared to all the other baseline stock numbers I have seen.

300HP at the crank with only 180 getting to the wheels... I don't think so.

Yeah your right about those numbers. 300hp at the crank is around 220/230 at the wheels. I had a thread up about that a while ago wondering if it was 300 at the the wheels or crank. Those numbers are really low!

On another note, i too would say "Stay away from Weapon-R". They truly are garbage. $1200 for intake and race ECU, I would say go with SRT. You get the same thing, without the heat shield (which you can build yourself) and save around $650. Plus, you can get it dyno'd and have the ecu programmed also if i'm not mistaken. Don't waste your money. For $1200 you can get a lil more than Intake!

Yeah, I think I have decided to just save up for FI... Maybe if I get lucky SRT will release a SC again at a lower price than the Turbo kit...

If not I have a long term goal of saving up for the turbos and taking a trip up to DC...

Leo finally resent the correct Dyno, I am not sure what that one is up there that he sent me. On the one he sent this time Stock HP is 235 with TQ 258... With intake and ECU it went to 250HP and 285 TQ

Hehehehe I can go and buy some plumbing pipe right now, dip chrome it, stick on some cutting sticker, slap on a Ractive filter (for that nice faux carbon airbox look) and sell it to you for 1/2 the price weapon R charges you....interested????

Go with different intake and SAFC.
I had weapon r intake with my fomer GS300 and I had problems. Even though I had good power with combo-ing with SAFC, the quality of intake was not that good. filter is low quality foam with plastic housing and the pipes are just ok and especially they use low grade rubber tubes. I had mine worp to different shapes after few days because of the heat of the exhaust. Before selling the GS300 I changed to Injen and it was much better quality intake. Good Luck.
