In 1 week i am going to purchase a new exhaust system. I have a GS400 w/ a stock motor. No upgrades! This being said, what exhaust will produce a) Best sound and b) Greatest HP gain ??
Exhaust style is important, but not as important as the 2 questions asked. Also, i do have the L-Sportline Body, if length is an issue. Exhaust pics or links to sound would be very helpful!!!
Thanks in advance,

Best sound is pretty subjective... depends on what you're definition of 'best' is. Just loud or a certain tone? Don't expect any significant HP gains from any exhaust on the GS.
You can check out one of the DVDs from a recent exhaust competition for both video and sound. Download may still be available, but the sound isn't nearly as good as the DVD.
I personally had some experience with the L-Tuned exhaust while drivng my brothers 01 GS430. I loved the sound, deep V8 rumble, made the car feel that much more special. It has been a while since I have driven it because he sold it last year, but I don't remember it being so loud that it was bothersome or annoying.
I mainly based my purchase of this exhaust (awaiting delivery) on that experience since HP gains seem to minimal at best and probably vary only slightly between brands.
Thanks guys, i really like the Apexi exhaust. And am particularly interested in the Borla. The L-Tuned sounds awesome! SO MANY CHOICES, SO LITTLE TIME TO MOD !!!
I was considering the Borla, Carson, and L-Tuned... Also, I believe the L-Tuned might be too short with the L-Sportsline rear and was intended for use with the stock bumper. I do believe however that maybe tips could be extended/changed to look right. Might be the same with the Borla too but I am pretty sure the Carson would extend far enough to look right with that bumper... make sure you look and consider the Carson, I would gather it would be on the high end of horsepower gains since it replaces the resonators in the middle section of the factory exhaust with pipe... it made me a little concerned that it might have been a little louder than I wanted though.
