Default 2 weeks?

It took me 3 months to find mine.

It's worth it. Try www.supraforums.com and ebay too.

Any concerns about wear and/or abuse problems buying one used? Those crazy Supra TT drivers you know...
I am going to spend the $$$ and get a new one because I don't want to have a problem with such a major component on my car. I will say however, that I haven't heard of anyone having a problem with their LSD.

Well, I had some questions about the one I had gotten, around 103k on it. But when I had opened it to inspect it, there didn't seem to be any horrible wear on the gears or anything. I think torsen LSD gears will last just about forever with proper fluid maintainence.

Thumbs up

I've always heard good things about Torsen diffs and their reliability! Good to know...

heh heh. Nah, I didn't do a write up. I figured there were plenty of them on here and my experiences were similar to everyone elses....but I can tell you that I LOVE it. You can definitely feel the difference in acceleration and the car is quicker around corners. And when I spin the tires, it's a lot easier to control the car...b/c before, it would get too squirrelly and very scary. Now the car is more predictable when sliding...

However, the only thing that I'm not too keen on is the decreased mileage...probably about 2-3 mpg...which translates to 30-45 miles lost per tank.

Default Which LSD?

After reading some recent LSD posting has spark some interest. I found a place in Australia that has a Supra LSD in stock want to sell at about $890. Is this about the price most of you paid for a used LSD? Could someone tell me what year and model of the Supra's 3.76 LSD I should be looking for that will work on the Lexus GS430? Auto or manual transmission? NA or TT engine? Etc...

Chu...

30 - 45 miles lost per tank = Tons more fun

Which side of the equation is more fun? The right side!!

lets see i'm worried about gas miles per tank. do i trade my go fast lexus for a hybrid toyota or honda. i know for sure which is more fun. and thats why we have the cars we have.

in my experience it is about 1 maybe 2 miles a gallon difference. so it does cost you more in gas. but if you are pinching pennies at the gas pump why spend thousands on wheels, body kits, coilovers, torque-converters etc ect. the gallon or two difference in a tank of gas would take you a lot of trips to the gas station to equal the cost of doing this mod or many of the others that we do.

take the fun

Default $890!!!?

ChuH,

890 seems high. I paid 700 shipped and that is a tad on the high side, but it was from a car with 42K miles on it. I hope 890 was shipped at least!

Buyers for used TT units need to be patient, look on www.supraforums.com and buy from someone who appears legit, lots of posts, been a member a long time, etc. You should be able to get one or less than 800 shipped to you.

Good luck.

Since he's in Australia, I'd imagine it would be harder to come by for a local seller...

Default Down under

Tranman,

You may be right, but I have seen alot of the Supra traffic from folks in Australia. Not my area of expertise, nor shipping from Canada or US to Australia either.

An LSD in hand is worth something too!
