Default HP Chip

Erick,
I think the ECU upgrade is about the only thing we can do. Most of the HP chips are a resistor, and god only knows what can happen when you drop one of those in your car.

Due to the different design of the ECU for Japanese cars compared to the European cars (which normally use EPROM), it is relatively more difficult to replace the chips of Japanese cars.

Also, not much gain can be achieved by chiptuning our N/A engines. Even most european N/A cars can only gain about 6 - 8% more power and torque. Most of the gain is between the ears.

I would LOVE to be able to adjust... the TRANNY

A programmable ECU that would allow me to decrease shift time, firm up the shifts and adjust the shift point would be great. I would leave the part throttle manners completely alone and only make changes for 70-100% throttle opennings.

Engine wise, these engines should be turning to 6500-7000rpm... not the wimpy 6000-6200rpm the factory shifts things at. Heck, the power peak on the engine is 6000rpm with the crappy exhaust systems. With the headers, exhaust and a raise to say 6700rpm these things would REALLY wake up.

As said above, the Toyota/Lexus ECU is notoriously hard to modify. Hopefully someone will come up with a programming interface or piggy back module. The SRT modifies the MAF signal and that does make a nice improvment but I want to remove both the RPM and speed limiters. OK, just raise the fuel cut to 7000rpm.

I'm not too sure but I remember a Gs300 owner at a local store here had a ECU for his car... He even told me it cost about 1000 dollars.. I can try to check this with him, but I havent seen him around for awhile now/.. I took a ride in his car and the car seemed to rev higher than mine... I watched the rpm and remember seeing it go above where my car usually does..

It was a local store in San Bruno/Burlingame ... on El Camino
