Default Anyone ever have intake+water problems?

Anyone ever have intake+water problems? Like when the intake gets clogged with water during a storm...

This is more of an urban legend than truth.

The only way that the engine is going to ingest enough water to cause problems thru it's intake is for you to be an idiot and drive the car thru water deep enough to submerge it. In other words, in our cars it would likely mean water atleast 3 ft deep.

If you're driving your car thru water 3 ft deep, IMO you deserve everything you get. That's really stupid.

If you want as close to 100% insurance that hydrolock doesn't happen.....buy a $30 AEM bypass valve. It installs on the intake itself and keeps the intake from sucking water up like a straw. Honestly, I've had CAI's on my cars for years w/o a single water problem. I did buy the bypass valve for a previous car, but it was only because it was a TRUE CAI that had the filter less than 6 inches from the ground. Even then, I had no worries driving in any weather.

Really, it's not something to worry about unless you have bad habits or no common sense.
