Default Removing Resonator Questions

Hey guys,

Before I made this post, I searched the archives and did not find anything. I am planning on removing my resonators, but all I know is that from the cat, it is connected to the resonator then to the exhausts.

Do I have to have to get a X, H pipe or something like that after I remove the resonator or is it just a straight pipe from the cat to the exhausts?

Finally have any members here with a GS300 remove there resonators? If so how would you describe the sound?

Just incase your wondering, I am trying to achieve a "muscle like, mustang sound" as well as better air flow in my car.

Thanks alot.

An X and H pipe are useful for cars with a V type of engine (V6 or V8) because it balances the exhaust pulses from each side of the V. The I6 doesn't need an X or H pipe.

My old setup had the l-tuned exhaust with the resonators removed and custom straight piping. You will not get a Mustang sound out of a I6. My car sounded more like an F1 Indy car. It had a very racey (not rice) sound at higher rpms which made people think there was something under the hood.. Check out this link and go to the I6 exhaust competion. Look for my car. I think I'm car #7.

Thanks Ken! The funny thing is I have viewed that video 8 times in 2 days listening to your car. I always click to the middle of the video because thats the only inline 6 with dual exhaust. =)

Did you ever get hassled by the cops?

Trust me, after U take those things out, U will get that roar like a mustang GT.

I took mine out on my gs400 with blitz exhaust, and It just sounds so nice

Bryan, I get hassled by the cops all the time but for other stupid fix-it ticket violations. I've never once been pulled over for my exhaust..
