Default Klinking noise while shifting From P to D...

Ok, for those who noticed, my gs4 is making some funky noises lately. This time, when i shift from Park to Drive or anywhere in between, you can here the tranny or something make a klinking noise. It sounds like a hollow tin can sort of noise. The dealer checked it out and "its supposed to make that noise" they say. Now that the car hasnt been servied in a while, the tin can noise is getting louder. Does anyone know anything? thnx

Just curious, how is your ATF fluid (condition and level)? How does the car shift? Changing the ATF (or at least, a drain and refill) would probably be a good place to start.

To add more info, like HoracioGS4, whenever I shift from any detent to another (i.e. P to R, R to D, etc.), it makes a slight click noise. It's the shift linkages moving during movement of the shifter. You can especially hear it when you have your radio off and the windows down. It's normal. Also, when you shift from P to R or P to D, it will make a slight thud noise, signifying that the A/T torque converter is engaged. All normal.

If it's much louder than what I'm suggesting, you might have a problem--again, check your ATF level and it's color. Do this when the engine is warm and when you've driven aroudn for a bit. On a level surface, leave the car ON, and pull out the A/T dipstick (it's on the very back right side) and wipe it. Reinsert it fully, and pull it out. It shoudl be somewhere in the HOT range (the upper indicators), if not add more ATF.

Good luck.
