Default Choose a Brake Upgrade for me

As the title says. Looking to upgrade my brakes soon. Pads, rotors, fluid and potentially callipers too depending on price. Looking for something higher performance than stock. Budget around $1000usd

I’ve got a 2020 IS350 F-sport AWD. I do a combination of city and highway with a bit of “spirited” driving once or twice a week (primarily what I want the upgrade for). I may do a track day eventually.

I’m still running 18” wheels but they are aftermarket and do have a little more space behind them, but unsure if a big brake kit will fit. Will post pic if that helps.

Let me know what you’d buy in my situation. I’ve looked but I’m overwhelmed with what to pick.

cheers

Most big brake kits won't work with an 18in rim. Depending on the brand, the front caliper will be too close to the barrel or actually may make contact with the balancing weights.

Also, if you are very lucky you may find a set for around $1000 here in the states. I've seen used sets (RR Racing or ISF) sell upwards of $1500.

Good luck with your search.

look into a set that's on the IS500/GS350. they're a little bigger and may fit 18" wheel set up.

1000$ isn't much for a full replacement, however you can get a nice set of rotors and pads plus fluid for that much. replacing your calipers with bigger ones front and rear plus bigger front and rear rotors is spendy.

For this platform and for the way you drive there’s no point in doing this upgrade.

If you want a true big brake kit that's still OEM, RCF brakes are the way to go (likely not in your budget) but you will lose the electronic parking brake and the calipers will require modification. If I were you I'd just get a good set of ebc pads, and carbon filled rotors.

Not anymore, check this thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...pgrade-11.html

Eddie is releasing a full BBK front and rear that retains the EPB.

If you can, would recommend to get your rotors cryo treated- will last longer

Question Help me too!

Hey everyone,
Driving 2017 RC200t F-sport. I live in Europe, so can't flex with big engines like you, also being 23 y.o.

I recently raced on the Nürburgring, including GP, and my brakes are cocked now. They were overheated, leading to vibrations in the steering wheel during above-average speed braking, and now I will have to substitute brakes very soon.

Since I can't get the real F and track edition due to financial reasons and will have to spend about 1000 EUR to change them, could you recommend the brakes that will serve occasional races on track, with higher performance and without being overheated? Price range below 1500 EUR.

My current aftermarket rim diameter is 18".

Looking forward to your highly appreciated guidance.

Saw when this was posted, I did send you a message on FB. I literally created an account here to message you about this BBK for the IS500. Thanks for your time.

I have a GS350 Lux package, Non F Sport. I installed the larger F Sport Rotors Drilled by StopTech, with some NSR Brake pads. I also had the Rotors Cryo treated. Ended up about the same cost as just putting on a set of new Rotors and pads plus the Cryo Treatment for $80. Also did the Stoptech steel braided brake lines.

The end results were a bigger Rotor, and much improved brakes that did not fade and won't warp the rotors due to the cyro treatment. If you are looking for a inexpensive upgrade I would recommend this as others have already mentioned, the Cryo and F Sport bigger brakes. I had already done this. The braking difference is very noticeably much better. With only $1000 budget you wont get anything else. The upgrade I did was less than $500. Also I would Not recommend EBC at all.
