Default d3 tune, I lost custom and sport+ mode

Hi there,

I recently installed the d3 tune on my is350 2018 and I lost my custom and sport+ mode. I contacted d3 about this and only one guy got this kind of issue in the past. He fixed it by resetting the ECU(disconnected battery). I tried this but no luck. Im still waiting for an answer from d3, so I take a guess here. Maybe someone know how to fix this

How I can be sure my ECU has really been reseted? I tried to disconnect battery 15min and 2h, same result when I start the car. Rough start and "initialization" message on the lcd screen

Does D3 realize your car is one with AVS and the capability for Sport S+? Maybe they sent you the wrong tune? They should have a way to get your car back to stock as well, if they have a decent product.

Its hard to say. D3 performance dont answer me fast. I got an answer 10 days after I talk to him from facebook. And now its 10 days later and I dont have any answer yet

I dont think a tune before 2018 will work on a 2018+? So the tune I bought for the 2018+ is supposed to work with AVS and sport+. They got this issue only one time from a australian customer and fixed this by resetting the ECU. But for me, no luck

I cant deal with the lack of sport+/custom. But fortunately, I always stay on maximum damper setting no matter the mode I select. Because I removed the fuse from the system when I was on sport+ mode. So no more damper adjust everytime Im starting the car

I recently did a WOT on drive mode and got a rev cut off. Its not normal

Unfortunately, you're also giving up the "adaptive" part of the suspension when you unplug that fuse. The suspension is supposed to be able to react to your driving inputs and the road to either smooth-out or stiffen-up the ride.

I don't know what this means. Can you describe what is happening?

Yeah I know, but I dont have any trouble about the handling. I prefer to always stay on stiffer setting(anyway, Im used to non adaptative suspension). Its because its the only way to get the sport steering feel with the stiffer sport+ damper setting. Because I dont like the stiffer steering feel on sport+(too much and unnatural feel). Its not like an electro-hydrolic power steering. I dont find another way to get this(even with custom setting)

I dont know if you ask about "WOT" , wide open throttle. But I mean, I just did a full acceleration from a start and one gear didnt shift, so I snap the cut off. I think it was the 2nd or the 3rd gear. I never get this issue before the tune. And I was on Drive mode and not on manual mode. But it only happen one time since I have the tune(2 weeks)

OK now I understand, I think. You are saying it hit the rev limiter.

I have had that happen before and haven't been tuned. Sometimes these transmissions are... quirky. I personally wouldn't worry about it unless it is happening all the time.

Hello. I have had bigger problems when I tuned myself the car with D3 software; I managed to brick my ECU because I thought I was smart and used Linux laptop instead of Windows. Anyhow, don't worry, it has been restored and I am really happy with the tune. That happened on a Friday afternoon, and I am from Europe, Romania and once I realized I messed up the ECU, I called them over the phone - immediately!

So, I strongly suggest that you use their phone number and CALL them asap. Don't you wanna fix this issue fast? Don't rely on emails or messages over the internet, just use the phone! Just make sure you have available the order no or the Tactrix serial no, so they could pinpoint the order and software you have. I do believe that something is wrong, and your tune may not be designated for your exact engine/configuration type.

I really hope that you will fix this issue so you could also enjoy the tune.

All the best

My recommendation would be to try to reflash the tune onto the ECU (install it a 2nd time), following all steps as directed by any included instructions. There could have been a hiccup in the initial flash which is disabling the Custom/S+ Drive mode so give that a shot. If it doesn't work, then reflash the stock rom file to the ECU and test to see if functionality has been restored. Please report back here with the results.

Something that might also be beneficial would be to re-install the missing fuse while flashing the D3 rom file to your ECU. That fuse may be causing a fault that is deactivating the Sport + mode when writing to the ECU. I do not know enough about Toyota's coding for this feature to say for sure but figured it may be worth mentioning.

You're looking at someone else. BobbyGee didn't start the thread; frank357 did.

I went back through using the "Find" function to re-check every message from the OP.

@arentz07 is correct. @jgscott was incorrectly referencing post # 8, which was another member replying to the thread. The OP is still experiencing the issue as far as we know.

Thought the reply was to this? There was a not quote to that post. It followed this above post. I see now. Thanks.

Maybe this will help.

So my GS friend also bricked his ECU taking the tune off to compare Tune/No Tune. I told him to call D3. He did. They told him to remove the ECU from the car and send it to them. They reloaded it and sent it back to him fixed. The original file was either on the Box they sent to him or their server. Depends on if you extracted to their server or not.

I also lost the Sport and Sport + Red light that changes in the speed cluster. It was only Blue and would not change anymore when I loaded the Tune. The modes worked, just the background Blue or Red lights when you change modes did not for some reason. I called D3. They sent me a new Download. I had to send them my original Factory saved file.

I have talked to them any times. Dennis is the Dyno tuner there and a great Guy to work with and talk to. Call D3 like someone else says. The Software Guy who fixes most of the Load issues is named Vanese - (sp?)

Edit added - Are you sure it won't go Sport + mode? Mine lacked the Red light conformation but it was still actively changing because I could tell by acceleration response and the Strut stiffness difference that the 4th Gen GS has.
