Question Is this a Soarer 1JZ or a Supra 1JZ?

http://jdmsource.ca/products.php?JDM...c6dtjd50j3n714

I believe this is a Supra 1JZ since the fan isn't connected (hydrofan vs mechanical pump) however I am not entirely sure. I've been wanting to start a 1JZ SC300 build and trying to hunt down a Soarer 1JZ to make the swap as (theoretically) straight-forward as possible.

Hold up actually think this is from a Soarer based on the shifter.

The giveaway is the turbo outlet pipe angle. Soarers are angled toward the front of the car. Supras are pointing directly at he fender.

You can confirm by asking them how many rows of pins the ECU has. Two row is a Supra. Four row is Soarer.

Looks like a Soarar transmission to me.
Remember there was 2 generations of 1jz's, don't think the 1jz intake tube matters.

Googling some pics soarers look the same they all came out directly to the fender. 2jz's are the ones that are angled towards the front.

Transmission started to make me think Soarer as well. It seems it has the extension so the shifter sits further back. Now the real question is to find out if this website is legit or not.

Looks like a front sump engine to me = Chaser. They had the hydraulic fan as well.

Also a good point. I'm not sure why I was automatically thinking rear sump.

Were the JZX90 R154's similar to a Soarer? Or a Mk3?

This thread/post seems to say the JZX90 mirrored the Soarer

However, if you look at this JZX90 1JZ/R154 the shifter looks shorter than what a Soarer would be.

I´m pretty sure that the Chaser- and the Soarer-R154s are the same. Both had the same tripod extension on later models. The mk3 extension is shorter

There may be some difference in shifter extension length between jzx80 and jzx90/100? I´m no expert on the Chaser, but when I look on wikipedia, the jzx80 came with the 1jz as well, and that looks like different chassie compared to the jzx90/100

Well that's a bummer because I know the Chaser engine harness is different than a Soarer engine harness and that would mean more money and work :/
