Question Code retrieval help - strange situation

Ive got a 93 SC400, all stock 258k mi, fully rewired engine harness with removed EGR system (although the solenoid is still plugged in and hasn't been a problem), that has been back on the road with its fresh timing belt now for over 1000mi with no problems

The age old battery died while I was out of town for 2mo and I replaced it with another that isn't the same physical size but is close enough in Amp ratings and it seems to work just fine - I'll be replacing it with a correct one once funds are available - I've only driven it around my neighborhood since this and it seems to run just fine

Before the battery change, the SES light would come on/flicker intermittently - I now have a steady SES light since changing the battery

I just did the code retrieval procedure jumping the pins at the port under the hood
Here's the strange part - the SES light didn't blink, the O/D light blinked a code 63? - the SES light never blinked
When I did the timing belt , I also had to fix my engine harness in a few places - no big deal for me, its been fine other than the O/D light flickered a couple of times that I noticed for no apparent reason
Also, removing the EFI fuse to clear the codes didn't turn off the SES light

Anybody have a clue as to what's going on here?
I'd appreciate any insight anyone may have

I also tried to clear the SES light by disconnecting the negative on the battery
Still no luck to clear the light

Anyone?

It sounds like you have the common issue with the ECU capacitors going bad. I don't have an ecu for a 400 or I would offer to meet you to loan one of mine to see if that is your issue. I have several 300's but that won't help you. Either way, it sounds like you need to send your ecu off to have it rebuilt with new capacitors. Tanin is one option, you can read about that service in a bunch of threads on here.

I do have the TOYOBD1 tool, if you want to try that maybe we can get together since we are relatively close it sounds.
