Greeting SC300/400.
i have 2000 SC300 with 110,000k Miles (i live in Hawaii), recently the vehicle engine check light came up and i took it to the trusted mech shop and he said P0441 charcoal canister need to be replaced. he was having hard time finding the right part since the vehicle is reaching 20 years. i found the part from the E-bay and wants to install but i can't figure our location of the charcoal canister. it looks like older 92-96 modles have their charcoal canister in passenger side engine bay but i can't exact location of mine. do you guys have any idea where it is located and how to replace?
tooshin, I believe the majority of the EVAP system on 1998-2000 SC300/400's is located on the return-less gas tank used for those model years. As you found out, 1992-1997 models have return-type gas tanks with the EVAP system including the charcoal canister in the passenger side of the engine bay.
On the 98+ models the charcoal canister is located behind the front bumper on the passenger side. It's mounted below where the oem intake box is. If you use a flashlight and shine it into the hole next to the foglights, then you'll see a large black canister.
Oh, that was it? Great, then! I'm not sure what the procedure is for replacing it. Do you have access to the 1998, 1999 or 2000 SC300/400 TSRM? Any of the 1992-1997 TSRM's would not show the correct EVAP/charcoal canister removal and installation instructions.

I looked into it some more and cars produced after August 1999 have them located in the trunk. This style charcoal canister is cheaper from the dealer (Around $300 new vs $500 for the older models).
The part number you need is right in your picture. Swapping it out is fairly straight forward. Remove the old one and plug in the new one exactly the same way. Take lots of pictures before you start, so you don't mix up the the order of the hoses. Also, if any of the hoses are cracked then replace them or your CEL will come right back.
