Default Auto Trans Shift Kit...

I was reading all possible mods for my engine and came across the Auto Shift Kit as seen on PlanetSoarer.com. Has anyone done this mod to there 1UZ? I contacted MV Automatics and they got back to me the same day, and it's about $500 shipped. Seems kinda expensive. They sent me the instructions that come with it also. This is them...

Anyway just interested if anyone has done this mod, if they feel it was worth it or not. The Planet Soarer write up on it makes it tempting.

I did a shift kit in my old auto. I used the transgo shift kit from summitracing. Costs about $100 and can be installed by the average DIY mechanic at home in a day. There are a few write ups on it if you search for it.

Parts needed:

Trans-go shift kit
Toyota trans fluid type IV
New filter
Pan gasket

I also have a few videos of how it shifts on YouTube. It was fun while it lasted but in the end I wanted a 5spd.

It makes the cars shifts more firm and faster for better acceleration. The kit comes with a couple different size drill bits and springs. You take the valve body apart and drill out a couple holes to make them a little bigger. It comes with a few different options as far as size so you can choose how firm you want it to shift. The springs are what makes it kick into each gear harder.

Not simple, and you have to be extremely careful when installing all the new parts. Also you don't want to get any dirt in there at all. Think "Hospital clean".
