Default Starting the Project

Alright boys and girls,

Over the next 2-3 months I will be doing the motor swap on my SC. I've started prepping to pull the stock GE motor.

Supra wiring harness will be here in about 2 weeks or so, then I can begin the wiring. While the motor is out of the car of course

I'll make sure to take many detailed photos along the way.

5spdSC300,

I did buy Phil's how to book. To be completely honest the wiring is the only reason I purchased the book, and in my eyes its well worth the money. Some have their opinions as to him charging for this information. If you went to PHR, Toyomoto, SP Engineering, etc. to get the cross ref for the wiring, do you think they would give it to you? Probably not. Besides the $200 you'll spend is a drop in the bucket considering a new wiring harness is $900 ($650 from Curt . Do you really want to take a chance. I still have all of the factory manuals for the supra and sc300 and highly recommend getting these as well. They are still a big part of the swap.

Either way, I'd recommend it to anyone that is serious about doing the swap.

I'll also say that Phil and I have converesed NUMEROUS times over email and he doesn't hesitate to get back to me. I'm doing some things differently than he did, so I'm keeping him in the know on what I'm doing.

Good luck.

Quik,

Are you swapping the engine only? If so, what are your plans for the driveline?

Good luck!

Well, depending on size of my commission check at the end of this month I'm definitley buying the 6spd with the front clip. However, may have to wait another month or two for the 6spd rear and halfshafts as well as shorten the 6spd driveshaft.

I plan on doing this right the first time.

Hmm... it seems we're all in this together. :-) Besides us, Angel is in the process too.

If you guys don't mind, let's swap as much info as possible. It could save us time and $$$.

I've done the 6-speed swap and can offer any help/advice. Ask anytime.

Thank god for heated garages I had to replace the power steering pump on my daily driver. I got in the mood to work on the lex, so this is what I accomplished today!
