Hey guys, so just experienced one of the craziest moments in my sc owning life.
Headed down the freeway the lane i was in merged into 1 so i quickly get on it to pass the truck and once i pass the truck i let off at about 75-80 wellllllllllllllllll my car decided to keep going so here i am now doing 110+ weaving in and out of cars yelling at the top of my lungs stomping the pedal up and down trying to regain cable feel.
After throwing it in neutral and bouncing off the rev limiter i finally get it off the road and turn it off, after about 5 minutes i start it up and its fine.
Now noticing on the way home every time i go WOT it sticks,
Narrowed it down to the springs in the throttle cable assembly being worn out or something, first i though it must be the WOT switch shorting out but no upon further inspection of throttle and trans cables when you pull them tight as if going WOT they stick in the same position. Also springs feel very worn out.
figured id share this scary *** experience with my sc bretherin
Same **** happen to me me on my auto sc like 2 months ago almost **** my pants since im not really a auto guy so i didnt really know what to do. Put it in neutral and push on the brakes and man my throttle cable got stuck. Didnt know pulled into a gas station . Didnt know why it got stuck now i don't push all the pedal down. Only difference i was on a public street and my car isnt turbo but still lol.
sounds like craziness, good thing you guys had the smarts to put it in neutral.
may want to replace the throttle body or figure out whats wrong while the car is off.
I would think if it sticks it should do it when its not moving also.
you gotta remember in those emergency situations not to shut it off cause you will loose power steering and brakes = no good.
Maybe a little lubricating into the sheath of the cable, the spring and everything.. moving it by hand a lot... and also lubricate the pedal side too... may help to not stock.
I've experience it with a camry.. stock at 3000rpm, dust has made is way into the cable sheath soo it stock.. WD-40 solved it!

Yeah man, scared the **** outta me. Ended up being the old vacuum ports im not using were sticking in the t/b and causing it to stick. smh that was close.

Thanks will check tomorrow when i have time. Don't want to go through that again
Ahaha
HFS! Glad you came out okay man, and at 14Psi, thats a miracle!
yeah, my car pulls like hell on the top end so it was incredibly scary

no, waited till i was stopped to shut my motor off. You lose all power steering and brakes if your shut the motor off which would likely be more catastrophic at those speeds
In all seriousness...this just happened to me but on a 5spd with no turbo the other night. I went WOT in fourth and when I shifted to fifth the car hit the rev limiter and just kept doing it like crazy, then when I put it into fifth gear and just kept slapping the gas pedal until it finally popped back.
Basically I should inspect the throttle body assembly for worn springs and dry lines? Thanks it was actually a scary thing.
P.S. This all happened in a matter of 10-15 seconds from the moment I let off in fourth and it kept going all the way until it bounced back as I was hitting it in fifth gear.
