HY!

I can have a old W58 tranny and i will rebuild this. Have someone experiences with the rebuild kits from ebay.com? 280 dollars for all bearing, sync rings, gaskets,... is this a good deal, or is it better to buy the parts from Toyota? Have someone his W58 rebuild?

I was quoted 450-650(max) to rebuild my w58 from a reputable shop. This is including parts.

I was quoted 300 for labor if I bring him the ebay rebuild kit.

Gonna to see him next friday, will see whatsup once he take it apart.

The e-bay kit is just fine as long as you do not have damaged hard parts such as chipped/cracked gear teeth or worn engagement teeth but the whole key to making one of these last is how you set the bearing preloads when you re assemble it as it is 100% without a doubt key!

we can self rebuild the tranny, and i have a friend, the works in the biggest Toyota/Lexus car repair shop here in Austria i will ask him for this special key!

@ross..please give us informations when the tranny is rebuild and tested

@xspsi... the last information was, the tranny shifts fine without any problems, i hope all gears ok. i will ask the seller more details, how many miles,...
