Going NA-T isn't that expensive.. especially cause you can pick up a good used GE for like $450 these days..
I have almost 155k on my NA-T making 422whp without a single issue... other than the **** W58 trans, And I havent even turned up the boost yet. Also.. 400hp in these cars isnt that much.. believe me, once you get 400hp for a couple months.. the car starts to feel slow again..
Save yourself the cash and go NA-T... Unless you have money to blow and wanna make over 500whp.

^^^ Yes and depending on how much you are trying to spend they go from $350-$1800 !
Both setups are not cheap , it is going to cost you money regardless, So just pick the route you wanna go and do some research on it.
1jzgte/2jzgte or na-t regardless you will have to buy parts left and right, and it's not cheap you already know that.

I just picked up a Soarer 1JZ from Dallas JDM Motors for pretty cheap. Engine looks super clean and comes with an auto tranny. That will go up for sale but I'm glad I found one

I did a bunch of reading before i went the 1JZ route.
As far as budget wise, I spent about close to 4k w/ Phoenix Tuning doing my wiring. I've looked into doing NA-T but my 2J is in very poor shape and I dont think I want to tackle the wiring using the aristo ECU or fork out another 1500 for a AEM v2. So I went the easy route and go with the 1JZ swap.

Same here for the reasons you stated. I'm thinking about sending my harness to Dr. Tweak but not sure yet. If the extending part seems harder than it looks then I'll fork out the money.

I'm stuck on where to get my transmission from. I decided on a R154 and the local Autozone could get one that's rebuilt for around $1600 or I can get one from a guy on Craigslist for about $350. He says it was his backup that he disassembled for parts on his rebuild but that it works fine.
Worst case scenario is that it needs a rebuild as well. So my question now is should I go with the Autozone one or go for the Craigslist one?

When you get ready to do this, please contact me first for a price quote.

Thanks I will be contactIng you soon.
I'm getting my engine tomorrow and I need to know what additional items I need to just be able to drop the engine in and see if it works. It will be coming right back out so I can perform the maintenance stuff and install my R154 next month. I read that I need a tt supra throttle cable but I can't think of anything else. My motor should come with the ecu, harness, and ignitor.
Also, I believe that I read in another thread that if I have an auto tranny and the new one is also an auto that I can use the stock driveshaft. Can anyone confirm this?
