350Z trans adapter?
I don't see how that tremec is going to fit on anywhere easily but looks very interesting.
yeah the xterra shifter setup looks promising, I just wonder how much has to be changed inside the trans to accomodate that setup. if its just the shifter arm and you can get all the parts at a junkyard then its like they put a solution on there for swapping into different cars, which technically is what they did with the Xterra its the same basic trans. I don't have a 350z trans or any xterra parts, so I will leave it up to you guys doing the ground breaking work to get all the details on it sorted.
or on second though use the whole Xterra 2wd trans.. lol. gears would probably be very unique.

as much as i want to keep my cluster i am probably going to go with speedhut gps gauges to replace the entire cluster.
its that or try to somehow incorporate your rear abs(which doesnt have a vss... OB1 at least) with a abs speed sensor signal and hard wire it to your speed sensor plug on your harness.
orrrr a driveshaft speed sensor but i dont know how that would tie into a oem gauge....

The standard tremec shifter has been tested on a swap done on a mkiii. Worked without issue you will just need to install the shifter socket and bushing which means removing the shift rod. The socket slides right on. The t56 magnum parts are the ones you are looking for just remember u will need to rig up a way to mount the shifter but that's the easy part. I talk to sikky about making it to fit the cd009 but was able to pursue an custom work at this time. I will be talking to a buddy of mine who also does Cnc work an see if he will at least make a mount if not the whole thing.

I like the Xterra idea, it seems to be in a much better spot, although the angle of the shifter may be awkward? I want to try this but don't feel like laying in gravel at the picknpull right now lol. They only charge $80 for the transmission if you pull it yourself and get to take everything associated..
finally got my gopro back. better video this weekend with cellphone speedo

Anyone run the maverick adapter components yet?
I'm a lot more interested in their flywheel since its one piece in the picture. It uses a replaceable friction surface but that just makes me question where replacement parts come from. If its an off the shelf rps or fidanza part, great. If its a custom unit available only thru maverick, that's bad. I want to avoid expendable parts with proprietary design.
It is nice that it allows 350z clutches.
Btw, I'm very curious about the ikeya formula shifter. I'm wondering if this will eliminate the z33 shifter issues since its not an h-pattern that requires the lever to be mounted in the oem socket.

Buying that whole tailshaft is unneeded.
You need to buy the whole 'shift control' setup on the top of this page. I have personally taken my trans apart and our shift rod looks to be the proper length for this setup. In the blowout on that link the shift rod ends exactly where my trans did, in between the two plungers. The shifter connect that we all shortened on our extended shift assembly connects to it. If you buy the x-terra 4cyl. 2wd shifter it deletes the extended shifter and part #32844M replaces it inside the tail housing. And in the end moves the shifter all the way to the beginning of the cover plate. my guessimate would be 4-5 inches forward

I see, so 32844M replaces the extended shift rod I guess I'll call it on the 350z trans, basically dead ends it so it's shorter. Then remove that black cover on the 350z trans and replace it with 32145. Shifter goes right down through that now, to link up with the trans. Interesting. So does this setup retain the reverse lock-out feature where you have to push down to get into reverse? I may have to hit up the junkyard by my house and see if they have an Xterra sitting out there.
I would think it would have the reverse lockout because I have driven a 6 speed xterra and it has a reverse lockout. It was a 4x4 but I couldn't imagine the 2wd not having it. looks like there is a spring in there so it should have it.
I think it will be easier to start from the xterra spot and bend a custom shifter than to bend a shifter back from the 350z spot.
Hopefully someone gets a hold of one soon and tries it out =)
how hard can it be to find a manual trans 2wd xterra. probably the 4x4 has a similar shifter setup but not the tailshaft.
