Default Timing Belt is RUBBING

Was about to do the 92+ 4Runner dizzy cap swap and when I removed my timing belt cover I found this.

What does that pin do? Could you have just pulled it out all the way and discarded it?

It's all back together, I was told its there to block the belt from slapping the cover when it wears out and stretches, It must have got bent in when the cover/head was put back together.
It was bent back out and I have put 40 miles on the car, everything is good now.

It looks like it dug into the belt a lot man... i wouldnt trust that belt like that. You need to change it. It has a built in failure now.
