Default SC400 A/C control panel problems

So I thought I was being proactive by going to the junkyard and buying an A/C control unit that was in better shape then mine. I couldnt tell at the time but the display was jacked up, so I lost $15 bucks. Oh well, When I installed my old one back in, I had the car on and the A/C running and as soon as I reconnected the cigarette lighter its like my car stuttered and and the A/C just shut off. My A/C panel lights up but I have no display. I am not sure what fuse under the dash to switch out since none of them say A/C. I went as far as buying another used control unit and still the same thing. It lights up but no display. What could it be? Its been 100 + degrees here in Dallas for almost 40 days now so I cant be rolling without A/C.
I need your help SC Lovers!

I think the cigarette lighter wiring shouldn't affect the a/c or engine running, that doesn't make any sense??????
