EGR valve cleaning
I'm cleaning the EGR valve and just noticed that I cannot run a wire to clean the small tube where the hose to the modulator/filter is connected. Is this normal or is the tube clogged?
Btw, the car is 92 SC300.
Thanks for all your replies.

btw, there is a screw with a philips head and it looks like this tube can be removed. I tried to take out the screw but the tube won't move . Any suggestions?

yeah, you'll have to unbolt the whole pipe at the bottom. it's a complete pita, and you'll need to experiment with a few combinations of extensions to reach it. my hand was cut and bruised up pretty badly after this. but i passed smog so it was worth it.

Thanks... I was able to loosen the top bolt (really took me some time to figure out how) and took the EGR valve out. but the tube in question is the small one attached to the valve where the vacuum modulator connects. I'll try to post a pic later.

I'm in the process of getting this done as we speak, My car can't pass smog because of the high NO PPM numbers...Thought it was the Catalytic converter, Boy was I wrong! (Costly mistake) The emissions numbers were even higher after the new cat was installed...So obviosly, It's the EGR system.
I've been needing to this for the longest time, I look back at some of my old smog test papers and realized that back in '10, I barely passed NO PPM emissions.

In response to the very first question, you can't go through the lower non-painted elbow because this part is vacuum operated and the plunger is in the way. To see if it's funtional you have to suck on the top tube and the plunger inside should rise. If not, then you'll have to find a way to support the plunger in vacuum mode (plunger up) and gently clean through the tube. Or, you can buy another one ($$$).
Hope this helps anyone.
