Default 1JZ Starting issues

As of a few months I have been experiencing starting issues. Not your run of the mill starting issue, where the car would crank but not turn over however more like the car wont even crank as much as one would think. The good thing is I do get it to start after a few attempts however I want it to go back to its roots and start up with one turn.

Things that could be the culprit:
- Battery in trunk (ground was just changed from strut tower to a metal section closer to the battery)
- Smoking twins (oil could have screwed up the IACV)
- ECT sensor or water temp sensor? (but my temp gauge works just fine)
- Starter
- Alternator
- Battery
- Spark plugs (new set ready to be put in)
- 12v mod done (fuel pump primes and runs just fine)
- With a Cigarette battery tester, I do notice when the key is in ACC, the voltage is 11.5 (which i think is low) but once I have the car warming up its at 14+v. HOWEVER, I have seen the battery dip down as low as in the high 10's to low 11's while idling and or driving)

Again, the motor will not even crank at times but will turn over after a few prayers/curses and turns of the key.

Any help would be appreciated.

Jae

just to be clear, does it sound slow to turn over, like it's struggling to crank? Does it make a difference if you put a jumper box or jump it with another car?

Typical, bad Negative terminal and grounding issue. Fully charge the battery and Measure the voltage at the starter. If it's under 12v then there's too much resistance within the Power wire traveling from the trunk to the starter.

Todd, I thought the same but it never did that until recently. But I will check the voltage across the battery and starter..
