Default vvt-i 1uz w/ a w58 stick transmission?

i'm thinking about a setup where I could get the most out of a v8 engine and since the sc4's don't come standard I'll swap a standard trnasmission.. would this set up work? i'm new to the swapping business, but i want to swap the 99 sc4 vvt-i engine, then swap out the auto transmission to a standard transmission..

then maybe down the road supercharge it.. can I get any Input? I'm a newb I know, but interested in this swap

A lot of people here have done manual swaps in their SC400s. I don't know how many of those had the vvti engines. It does work, but I think it may cause the ecu to throw codes. Someone may have found a solution to this...

Also, the vvti engines came with a 5 speed auto that is a big improvement over the 4 speed.

There has been MAYBE 1 person to do this conversion/swap because it's too difficult to get rid of the CEL's the car will throw. Many states/provinces wont pass cars during smog tests due to this. There has been some talk of it recently, but each time resulting in an agreement that it cannot be done, or, it would be too expensive to get rid of the CEL's.
In theory the conversion will work mechanically, so if you want to be the first to attempt it, and figure out the CEL dilemma, then MANY will appreciate it! It would open up a whole new dimension to the 1UZ!

If you don't have Cali style emissions testing in your area you could consider a stand alone, and not have to worry about any CEL problems or other crap. Megasquirt 3 would be the most cost effective option.
