Default sc has trouble starting after sitting 2-3 days. couple time starts then shuts off...

My 93 sc300 has been having problems starting after its been sitting for 2-3 days.

At first I thought it was the battery, or something causing it to drain. I checked everything, and changed the battery.

Early today after having the car off for about 5 mins when I went into a store. When I came back trying to start it, it started but then rpms dropped and the car shut off. This happened about 5 times. Then I gave it alot of gas for a while then the car was ok again.

What could the isue be? I thought it was electrical but it doesnt seem so anymore. The battery is new and there is nothing causing the drain.

Im thinking it may be a fuel issue. Fuel pump? spark plugs/wires?

Anyone else have this issue?

Well, I sorta had that problem. If i let her sit for more than 24 hours I had to get a jump before she would start, then she would run fine. I had EVERYTHING checked and replaced and it turned out it was the starter that needed replacing. Hope that helps!

I am having the exact same problem with my 92 SC300. It is in the shop being diagnosed. As soon as I hear from them, I will post on here for you.

Ok, I heard back form the mechanic and he said that the fuel pump is shot. Gonna replace it this afternoon. Hope that's the right fix.

good luck. Keep an eye on the starter. Seemed fine when I would start warm, but when cold had to turn the key several times.

if the engine cranks, it's not the battery or the starter.

sounds like something fuel related -- and the OP posted that they are replacing the fuel pump.
i had this same problem on my SC400 and the cold start fuel injector (extra fuel injector in the upper intake manifold) had been disconnected for some reason. however, i don't think the sc300 had a cold start injector.

Where is the cold start fuel injector located? I have the same problem, and is not related to battery or starter.

change your fuel filter first. it happened on my brothers sc400 and started to progressively get worse.

From what I've read on these forums, when your car is warm, and you try to start the car and then it immediately shuts off, it could be an indication that the fuel pump ecu is failing.

You could try doing "The 12 Volt Fuel Mod" (search that) and see if it helps your problem. Won't hurt if it doesn't help.
