Default Transmission issues caused by AC??

My transmission is starting to have various little issues. The most notable is that sometimes when shifting from R to D, it doesn't go into first until I rev the engine. Also, on shifts in the lower gears (e.g. 1st to 2nd), I sometimes feel a hesitation like a slipping clutch on a manual.

I figured out that these issues pretty much disappear with the AC turned off. Also, as soon as I turn on the AC, there's a relatively low pitched whining noise which appears to come from the transmission. This is most notable at low speeds and changes with engine revs (like alternator whine).

Any idea what this could be?

PS: I'm talking about a 93 SC4.

What's the mileage on your car? Might be that it's slipping and life is almost out. I had the same issue and one day I was getting out of work with the car not warm enough and took off and the tranny started to slip but I was waiting for it to happen to do a 2j swap

Default Mileage

About 135k. I just don't understand what the AC could have to do with it. Maybe related to the slightly higher RPM? A power issue?

Mainly it can be your tranny but also if your hydro pump does not have too much fluid and it cause something similar
