Default question regarding 1JZ swap

hey guys, so pretty much think i screwed my engine, now im just gonna say screw repairing it and get an engine swap.

my question is the 1jz is a direct swap into my sc300 correct?

does it matter what car the engine came from or are they all a direct fit.

also if i get the complete swap engine/ecu/tranny etc thats all i need right? will it work with my stock rear end?

all i really need to do is get the jdm harness extended correct?

ALSO please point me in the direction of any and all threads to help me out before i start this swap in my garage

EDIT: Whats the difference between a supra 1jz and a soarer 1jz... how much trouble is it to swap the supra 1jz into mine cause if found a real good deal on one

It does matter what 1JZ you get. The 1JZ Soarer and Supra will bolt right in (rear sump oil pans). The Chaser 1JZ will not, you would have to swap the oil pan.

If you get a Soarer engine with complete harness, then that harness is *close* to the SC300. Most people just extend it outright and live with what doesn't work. (Personally I think that's a little sloppy. If you have you wiring done by us it will be plug and play, everything will work, and it will have a warranty).

If you get an engine set from a Supra or a Chaser, then it's going to be a good bit more wiring work even beyond the Soarer harness, because those harnesses are TOTALLY different. But it's only a couple hundred bucks of wiring work so if you can get a good deal on a Supra 1JZ, go for it.

^ so what exactly "doesn't" work when the public extends it themselves. I would like to know since I did mine and everything works fine

I've heard various different things from different people, such as the ABS, the Airbags, the Starter needed to be jumpered, etc. That's just the evident things, the pinouts for the Soarer interior plugs are a good bit different than the SC300, not to mention that the SC300 pinouts change from year to year.

Plus most people probably solder their connections which is, uh... a little less reliable than mil-spec crimps

But hey, like I always say, some people like wiring and some people don't. If you like wiring and want the challenge, go for it. If you like having a professional do work like that and having a warranty, then send it to us

Personally, I see the advantage in having a professional do work for me. For example, I could sit down and figure out how to do my own tax returns. But I don't really enjoy that and I know that a professional will probably do a much better job, so I pay an accountant to do that for me.

Also REALLY BIG question, this motorset is with the auto tranny from a supra it will fit right up with my sc300 right? or is this something ill have to use my stock a340 auto tranny with.

i know the 90-93 supra is shorter than the sc300 but will the auto fit right in my 93??? someone please this is pretty much the last question i need answered

No; you have to swap the tailshafts from your old GE one. ALso depending on your harness you have;you might need to swap over some of the sensors off you old trans to your supra one.Trust me ive had my fair share of a340 transmissions.

Its really time consuming to extend it yourself but anyone who works on their car should know how to do it.

Since your engine is from a Supra, we will need both the 1JZ Supra harness and the original SC300 engine. Give me a call when you get a chance at 404-474-4573 or email drtweak@phoenixtuning.com and we'll get you taken care of

Yeah. Time consuming but not difficult. All the info needed is on this site.

These Discouraging comments remind me ot the mid 90's when shops were doing the same thing about the Sr20det swap wiring.
