Default I was on dyno today.... and.....

made 420 rwhp with 17 psi..... (cometic thicker head gasket and ARP headbolts), 1jz t70 single turbo.





and blew one of the ROD.,......

Now, im going to rebuild the bottom end,
trying to gather some infos.

I double checked with supraforums,
Piston is interchangable from 2jz to 1jz.
how about bearing and rod...? are they interchangable also?

I need someone who KNOW about 1JZ, and inform me some useful tech infos!

What caused the rod failure? Lack of oil pressure? Knock? Seems way low on power to be blown up for a 1jz, from what I understand the 1jz can easily hold 600rwhp w/o a hiccup? I personally would get it built by Justice Race Engines, they built my 2JZ short block and did a wicked *** job.

Running strong for the past 3 years and making upwards of 1000rwhp on q16.

Yeah, why was there a headgasket change for a thicker one? The stock gasket works fine at 8.5:1

I would venture to say he ment a 2jzge. Those numbers dont seem right on a 1j especially with a t70.

yeah id like to know too what caused the rod to break especially since my 1J will be delivered in like 2 weeks...

I would advise just getting a new 2JZ-GTE shortblock from Toyota and dropping that in.

thats a much more expensive route..... $2500 just for bottom end, then another 2k for turbo stuff.

a 1JZ can be had for 1800 with all the turbo stuff AND a r154 5spd tranny....


Maybe in the future ill go with a FULL 2JZ-GTE swap, but for my goals of ~500wph i dont think its entireley necessary

thats what I got mine for...$1950 plus shipping inclusing intercoler and piiping, and even a fuel pump...

pay me 2500 and I'll think about itl =)

jhot just sold one for that recently when i went up there to pick mine up.. 1800+shipping for a 5spd soarer swap.

you just have to call them every few weeks and get lucky. they never know what they are getting in because they recycle cars in japan and send anything of worth over here.

i paid $1025 for my full auto 1jz from them came with EVERYTHING

Evil, do you still have your 2jzge block?? just check your acl bearings in that block and throw some TT pistons in and your ready to roll again.

i'm keeping my GE block for that reason.
