hey guys, ive seen 1jz motor and trans out of the chaser around. i was wondering if anybody know if its the same as the soarer r154 or like the r154 out of the mk3 supra. i wanted to do a swap but just seeing if it needs to be modified longer or if it drops right in.

The chaser trans is the newest style of r154. It is similar to the 94+ soarer in that it has a remote mounted shifter but it is a newer design. Check out Dejacky's r154 install thread, he is using a chaser r154 i think off of the newest model.

so just to be sure, it is a direct drop in like the soarer trans. sorry can you send the link to dejacky's chaser r154 thread, i've search but cant seem to find it. thanks for the response vipsoarer. you've done a lot for the sc community with the r154 swap info.

This is a true statement. The JZX90 and JZX100 Chaser trans is identical to the 94+ JZZ30 Soarer trans. These are the most sought after R154 trans around since they drop right in to an SC/Supra.

Make sure the Chaser trans you are after is not from a JZX110 Chaser. The X11 chassis has a different shifter location from the Z3 Soarer/SC. Chances are, there are no JZX110 R154 transmissions in this country since they are so new and not cross-compatible with any other models to my knowledge.

thanks blizzy, now if i run into one of the chaser r154 trans, ill know to scoop it up. only 92-2000. i think, ive seen it around but i dont recall where.
