I live in ca and have heard that if you can find a usdm turbo supra front clip that you can perform the swap and still remain smog legal is this true? does it remain smog legal just emmisions wise? will it fail the visual inspection? Has anyone here that you know of made this swap in ca and smogged the car with no problems? I ask because In california it makes your car much more valuable re-sale wise if it has a smog legal swap versus a shady smog only swap.

theres not such thing as a USDM 1jzgte. never was available in US. 2jzge and 2jzgte were.

as far as smog rules go i believe that you can swap in an engine that is same year or younger then the one in your car. so if your car is a 95 you can get a 2jzgte out of a 95 or never supra ONLY. that may let you pass smog but most likely you would fail visual...and then youre back to square one of being smog/visual legal in CA.
