I had the exact same problem as you. I'd say check ALL of your grounds, and your ecu wiring. My problem was a loose ecu wire that was grounding out. Caused the same problems that you described. Also, it caused the ecu to fully retard the timing, thus totally destroying my turbo (super hot egt).

Bobby, I got 2 more for you.
Check your plugs, see if any are completly killed... even a tip broke off or something
Check your injectors. Let it idle and pull off the clip on each one. If the motor sound DOES NOT change, there your problem.

good thinking, i'll try it tomorrow. I didnt get a chance to do anything today because i'm a little on the sick side. left school at 9:30 and slept all day. I'm also going to wiggle that cam position sensor around and see if it changes sounds like it did when dan did it
so i unplugged the coilpacks one by one while the motor was running, each time one was unplugged, you could notice the difference, so i believe they are all working. I pulled out the cam angle sensor that is right near the injectors, when i pulled it out, the car was running, i pulled it and nothing changed, i looked in it and it was filled with oil over the electrical pins on both sides and there was oil sitting in the bottom of the female side. I cleaned it and plugged it back in, no fix, so i pulled it out and revved it up with the sensor unplugged, no difference. So is this my problem? keep your fingers crossed that it is, now i need to figure out where to get a new one
Maybee that is the problem, Mine has that exactly same sensor and its flooded with oil also, I have new cam sensors but the flu just hit me, and i cant put them and test until this flu clears.
I hope this fixes your problem.
